Crazy canine tails from around the world...

Twi-mutt mania
With the whole world going crazy over the uber-popular Twilight series at the moment, it’s no surprise that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and co. are finding it hard to juggle their everyday lives with their new-found fame. But, while it might be tough for them, it’s not a walk in the park for their furry friends either! According to Ashley Greene, who plays vampire Alice Cullen in the Twilight series, her adorable pooch Marlow is getting so much attention that she can’t open a magazine without seeing his picture inside. “It's crazy, right?” Greene said in a recent interview. “I think my dog is more famous than a lot of stars out there. I bet some people in Hollywood are like, ‘I can't get my picture in a magazine, but Ashley's pooch does?’ It's mind-boggling.” Meanwhile, it seems that everyone’s favourite vampire, Edward — oops, sorry Robert Pattinson — wouldn’t mind transforming into one of our furry friends himself. “The lifestyle of a dog has always fascinated me: you sleep, sit around, get stroked, eat and get walked from time to time — that’s great!” he says.

| Furry film awards

You’ve heard of the Oscars and the MTV Movie Awards, but what about the Fido Awards, an event that celebrates canine cinematic excellence? Bounding into its third year, organisers of the Fido Awards have recently released the nominees for outstanding canine performances in a number of categories, including Historical Hound, Rom-Com Rover, Comedy Canine and the coveted Mutt Moment award. So which of our favourite mutt movies are up for an award? Furry family favourites like Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Hotel for Dogs are going head-to-head to take out the Comedy Canine category, while it’s sure to be a close call in the Rom-Com Rover section with feel-good movies such as The Proposal and the popular film Marley and Me up for the top prize. Other movies nominated include Bolt, The Young Victoria and I Love You, Man. The winners will be announced soon, so keep an eye out on the Dogs Life for the results!
